Adding social share buttons in MyBB

Social sharing can increase overall traffic for your forums and in MyBB forums, there is no default option of adding share buttons. I wrote this tutorial about social share buttons in MyBB to help everyone add share buttons easily and gain traffic without use of custom plugins. I am using showthread page as an example, however you can add social buttons to any page using below tutorial.

It is very easy to do, just follow this tutorial on adding the social sharing buttons. I am using font-awesome based icons, you can use anything you want ie image or text or even any other type of icons. Follow the steps below :-

  • Go to your admin CP and your theme template. You will find showthread template.
  • Find {$usersbrowsing} and add the below code above it
[gist]https://gist.github.com/anonymous/7d208635b3642b3cc1a63cebe47c20aa[/gist] You can style it in any way your want, just like a text. It is very simple. That’s it, you now have social share buttons in your MyBB forums. I hope you like this tutorial. You can also use addthis social sharing button to even measure statistics of sharing platforms. 😉Demo: You can check following Adding share button mybb link.

In case of any queries, let me know.

I tried to add this to my index page but it doesn’t appear.
There wasn’t a {$usersbrowsing} to post above.

    Hey Kimmy,
It is possible that in your theme, $usersbrowsing is not present.
Can you try adding it above {$quickreply} ?

    Hello Kelly,
Which theme are you using, it is possible that some javascript might be conflicting on your website.
